Donation updates
We recently were able to donate $5,000 to Preston and Steve’s Camp Out for Hunger. We could only accomplish this because of all of your generosity.
Our Mission Statement:
Colleen Smith was tragically taken from her family and friends on August 3, 2008, three days after her sixteenth birthday.
To have known Colleen is to feel a true appreciation for life. Colleen was born a constant bundle of energy, always moving, always involved. She brought that energy and devotion to many parts of her life, in athletics, art, and especially to the love she had for her family and friends. Colleen admired her older siblings and was devoted to her younger ones. There is no doubt, Colleen had much to offer this world and it is a lesser place without her in it.
The Colleen P. Smith Memorial Fund, Inc. is a non-profit charity formed to keep Colleen’s name alive and vital in the community where she lived. One goal of this organization is to raise funds to aid students who might not otherwise reap the benefits of their hard work. Many students will struggle to achieve scholastic excellence and fall just short, like our Colleen. These same students are involved with sports, the arts, or in any of their school’s extracurricular pursuits for the sheer pleasure. However, the students we seek to grant scholarship are ones you would not first recognize for their efforts. As was Colleen. This fund seeks to award scholarships to students who demonstrate the desire to succeed but fall short of the scholastic grades or pure talent required to be awarded scholarship. We believe they deserve to be congratulated.
In addition to scholarship grants, our Fund also wishes to financially aid families who have suffered the loss of a child. Donations are also reviewed and granted to assist families in realizing a dignified funeral for their loved one.
Should additional monies be available, the Fund wishes to assist local youth sports organizations and art programs that require capital to maintain their spaces and equipment.
The Colleen P. Smith Memorial Fund was established because of the diligent and determined work of many people. Our fund reached the status of an incorporated, non-profit charity with their help.
We thank our donors from the bottom of our hearts.
In Colleen’s Name.
